Kiln Pad Pop Up | Troy Bungart
August 6, 2017
Bungart describes his cups as yunomi-style whiskey tumblers, perfectly proportioned for bourbon. His bowls range from ideal-for-saké individual sauce bowls to cereal-serving size. Pottery tools include wooden ribs and trim knives, some of which are collaborations between Bungart and other artists.
“I really enjoy the connectivity of working together with somebody,” explains Bungart, who incorporates other artist’s ceramic ferrules. The finished pieces include both artists’ chop marks. “It’s a way to share and make something that couldn’t be made without working together. I believe very strongly in acknowledging the people who affected us.” For additional information, please contact exhibitions@pewabic.org.
