The Pinecone vase features smooth sides with three high relief pinecones and pine needles near the lip of the vessel. Each pinecone points in a different direction so there is always one pinecone pointed outword no matter which direction the vase is sitting. The top of the vase has a simple raised lip that come in toward the center.

Designed and handcrafted in the Arts and Crafts tradition, our Pinecone Vase features delicately carved pinecones and needles around its distinctive rim.

Pewabic founder Mary Chase Perry Stratton used pinecone designs as early as 1907 on fireplace tiles installed in a private home on East Grand Boulevard in Detroit.

Winterberry Glaze

Red is a notoriously difficult color to achieve in ceramics. Creating our dramatic Winterberry glaze  consistently requires meticulous effort, culminating in the hottest firing we do at Pewabic. The oxygen in the kiln is reduced to capture this rich, red hue. In certain places, the oxygen lingers a little longer to produce flashes of milky white, adding to Winterberry’s appeal and uniqueness. 

Due to the extra effort required to achieve this glossy red, Winterberry is only offered seasonally.
